CFP. Producing the norm in religious orders (15th-20th Century) [Deadline - 31 March 2024]

This colloquium aims to shed light on the production of normative texts in religious orders (constitutions, statutes, decrees of general or provincial chapters or definitors, etc.) from the emergence of observance movements at the end of the Middle Ages to rewritings in the context of the Vatican II years. Without excluding the type of regular structure (order, congregation, institute, etc.), we will examine the various actors and bodies involved in the normative process, the external and internal constraints on the writing and implementation of texts, and the uses to which they are put.

This conference is organised as part of the REGULAE project (A history of normativity in
religious orders 15th-20th centuries) supported by the Labex COMOD (University of Lyon) and HASTEC (University of Paris-Sciences-Lettres) and will by organized at the University of Lyon from on 14-15 November 2024.

CFP. CREDIC 2024 Conference: Women missionaries in Islamic lands: roots, limits, changes (early 19th century - early 21st century) [Deadline: 15 May 2024]

Despite their numerical preponderance among the missionary workforce exercising a Christian apotolate at the end of the Ottoman Empire, women have long attracted less work than men. A rebalancing is in progress, spurred on by the gender studies and extended to the whole Muslim world. We will focus on real encounter and conflict situations, avoiding an essentialist approach to Islam and considering the extreme diversity of the field strategies and practices. This approach will be carried out in equal parts, in a decentering and critical way, far from denominational approaches.

Annual conference of the Center for research and studies on the diffusion and inculturation of Christianity (Credic), Rome, 18-21 november 2024, Casa Valdese and Centre Saint Louis de France To the Holy See.
